Just as much warp, just as much weft
In Apeiranthos, women are involved in the art of weaving. Formerly out of necessity, as they wove to meet their daily needs, even today they weave to adorn their homes.
Even weft-Even warp
Weft (yarn that is horizontally woven through the warp)
Warp (threads stretched lengthwise on the loom through which the weft is horizontally woven)
Said when things come out perfectly even. A metaphor from weaving. The so-called double cloth requires as much warp as weft.
Each piece in the collection is unique. The embroidery and the incorporation of the woven element are done by hand, with care and attention to detail — a tradition reflected in every stitch. The photos are indicative: the small difference you will notice in your own piece is precisely what makes it unique.
